The petals have started to fall from the tree out front. It's amazing that just yesterday there was a petal here and there and today the petals have blown into our patio in large drifts. That seems to be a common pattern in nature, a tentative start and then, whoosh, everything happens at once. From penguins learning to swim to flowers in the spring. Maybe we should apply this pattern in our own lives more?
Made a trip to the Minneapolis Farmer's Market this morning. Had coffee and a (chocolate filled) croissant and came home with tons of flowers to plant in our little patch of soil. It was good to see many young couples and young families there. Also, many people brought reusable tote bags that were purchased at stores like Cub Foods and Target. This tells me that they lead an environmentally conscious lifestyle rather than just doing something when it's convenient. It was very encouraging to see this.
There is a brief few weeks that I look forward to most each spring. These are the days which the flowering tree out front is in bloom. From the time that the tiny buds of tightly compacted petals first show up until the petals fall and blow in drifts against our door, just standing under the branches brings an involuntary smile to my face.
